The Dead Fires Anthology is a zine comprised of solo unaccompanied works for voice composed during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Each piece was composed for a specific singer. I have chosen to name this zine after my setting of Jesse Redmon Fauset’s Dead Fires because of the depth of both that collaboration and how many of us had a fire in our belly at the beginning of 2020 that turned to embers, much like dead fires.
