This piece was written in 3 hours, and performed later the same day as part of the Mad Dash Composers Project. The name Alise was ciphered into the musical material for the A section, and the music of bossa nova composers, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, inspired the syncopated, rhythmic pulse that is contrasted with the smooth melody. In the B section, pairs of instruments play together to show someone deep in meditation, sending energy out to the world.
